“The Barber” – thriller movie released

“The Barber” was just released! A year ago I had the great pleasure on writing music for this great thriller piece alongside the great Freddy Sheinfeld.

Here are a few words about the film:

“The first film produced by Chapman Filmed Entertainment is the thriller The Barber. The company optioned the script from professional screenwriter Max Enscoe and tapped Chapman alumnus Basel Owies, ’10 M.F.A. Film Production, to direct the feature. Dodge College alumni filled key creative positions and current students participated in a variety of roles.

A character-driven thriller, The Barber examines two men fixated on what triggers the enormity of evil: a father whose life is destroyed in pursuit of a killer, a son caught in a deadly charade as he tries to unravel his father’s obsession. The film stars Scott Glenn (The Silence of the LambsThe Bourne UltimatumTraining Day), Stephen Tobolowsky (MementoGroundhog Day, Buried) and Chris Coy (RandomGreenbergHostel: Part III).

The film was shot on location in Orange and in the Los Angeles area.

Director Basel Owies graduated from Dodge College’s Conservatory of Motion Pictures in 2010. His short films have won several awards including Best Featurette at Red Rock Film Festival for his thesis film, Forced Perspective.”
