“Buzkashi Boys” nominated for an Academy Award
I wish the best of luck to Martin Desmond Roe who co-produced “Buzkashi Boys”, a film nominated in the Best Short Film category at the 85th Academy Awards.
I had the pleasure of working with Martin on “The City of Lost Souls” trailer.
Set against the dramatic landscape of contemporary Afghanistan and the National sport of Buzkashi – a brutal game of horse polo played with a dead goat – Buzkashi Boys tells the coming of age story of two best friends, a charismatic street urchin and a defiant blacksmith’s son, who struggle to realize their dreams as they make their way to manhood in one of the most war-torn countries on Earth. Shot on location in Kabul city by an alliance of Afghan and international film makers, Buzkashi Boys is a look at the life that continues beyond the headlines of war in Afghanistan.
Good luck, Martin!
“Cybergeddon” at the Streamy Awards & Golden Reel Awards
Missy Peregrym, who plays Chloe in Cybergeddon, took home the Streamy award for “Best Female Performance: Drama”! Rock on!
See her acceptance here.
The Motion Picture Sound Editors Gold Reel Awards are about to start and Cybergeddon is up for Best Sound Editing: Computer Episodic Entertainment!
I had the pleasure of writing music alongside Freddy Sheinfeld for this amazing series.
“Tess the Inventor” is a wrap
Marking his third collaboration with writer/director/producer Jacquelien Gault of Jackal Films, the film depicts the adventures of a twelve-year-old Victorian genius plunged into the post-apocalyptic future of 2013, she hasn’t seen a single human being in the two months since her arrival.
Living on tins of beans, improving technology with her steampunk sensibilities, avoiding packs of mutant dogs – it’s all a little much to handle by one’s self.
So she scavenges parts from deserted shops and uninhabited homes and builds a friend; the steam-powered man, Electric Bob.
Together, they’ll travel across the empty landscape to match wits with bandits, hackers, and a CEO with entitlement issues.
Looking for answers to questions as big as the Universe.
To Tess, one thing is clear – if she wants a way home, she’ll have to build it herself…

Tess the Inventor
I hope 2013 is off to a great start for you! I have been incredibly busy writing music, meeting new collaborators, reading scripts and preparing projects these past few weeks. I am truly excited at the prospects offered by this new year and can’t wait to materialize its promises.
Tomorrow, I will make my way to the NAMM show, where I look forward to meet old and new friends, and indulge in the utmost geekiness.

Software I couldn’t live without
I thought I’d share with you a list of some of the software I use on a daily basis that make a huge difference in my workflow and productivity.
My friend Michael Hurwitz, a great composer in his own right, has been developing terrific Lemur and Touch OSC templates for iPad. Controlling my VSL libraries with this is a fantastic experience: http://www.midimockup.com/VSL/lemur.html
Gobbler is a little bit of a revolution when it comes to cloud storage. Gobbler is specially designed to back up DAW projects: https://www.gobbler.com
When working on projects involving a gazillion people, as well as sharing deliverables, my software of choice is DropBox: https://www.dropbox.com/home
In order to keep up with business and personal goals, as well as getting a synthetic view of what I need to accomplish, I am a big fan of Omnifocus. It integrates beautifully with my iPad, too: http://www.omnigroup.com/products/omnifocus
I’ll be sharing a list of my favorite plugins in an upcoming post, so stay tuned!
My team and I wish you excellent holidays! This is also a time for me to reflect upon those less fortunate than I. On a more trivial note, this is also a time during which I put on much not-needed weight!
A lot of things have been going on here in the studio, and I look forward to a quieter holiday season… in 2013.
